Leveling up Docusign workflows with Monday.com: How This Dot Labs delivered a seamless extension app

Discover how the new Start Docusign Maestro Workflow action in Power Automate can unify your automation and agreement processes, and learn how to trigger Maestro workflows directly from Power Automate.
Organizations across industries often face challenges with fragmented agreement processes—involving identity verification, eSignature, and secure storage—that are manual, error-prone, and disconnected from their broader systems. With the new Start Docusign Maestro Workflow action in Microsoft Power Automate, teams can now address these challenges by seamlessly linking agreement Maestro workflows with their existing Power Automate automations.
This integration unlocks workflow interoperability between Power Automate and Maestro, enabling users to trigger Maestro workflows in their Power Automate flows. It combines Microsoft’s low-code automation power with Docusign’s agreement-specific capabilities to deliver a truly end-to-end experience, from data collection and approvals to identity verification, document generation, signing, and secure storage.
You can now find a dedicated action in Power Automate: Start Docusign Maestro workflow. This action enables you to kick off Maestro workflows from Power Automate to automate agreement-specific tasks.
Power Automate is Microsoft’s low-code automation platform that connects hundreds of services—such as SharePoint, Dynamics 365, Power Apps, ServiceNow, Salesforce and more—to eliminate manual tasks and streamline business operations. It excels at orchestrating complex cross-system workflows with ease.
Docusign Maestro is a no-code workflow builder purpose-built for automating agreement processes from start to finish. As part of the Docusign Intelligent Agreement Management (IAM) platform, Maestro is optimized for handling tasks that general-purpose tools cannot natively support, such as identity verification, form-driven data collection, agreement generation, and eSignature orchestration. With Maestro, teams can build end-to-end agreement workflows faster, without custom code, and easily integrate them into the systems they already use.
Identity verification (IDV) Verify user identity before any documents are sent, ensuring compliance without prematurely generating envelopes.
Web Forms Maestro integrates with Web Forms to collect data from external users—customers, vendors, or partners—without needing additional licensing.
Embedded signing Eliminate the need for email toggling: users can sign agreements directly after completing the previous workflow activity like identity verification or data submission through web forms.
Flexible triggers Maestro workflows can be initiated via APIs, Connect Webhook Event Triggers, or, now, natively through Power Automate with the out-of-the-box Start Docusign Maestro workflow action.
Post-signing actions Store signed agreements in SharePoint or update records in systems such as Dynamics 365 or Salesforce using built-in Docusign extension apps.
Once you’ve added the Start Docusign Maestro workflow step, you can configure the Docusign Account, Maestro Workflow, and Instance Name for the Maestro workflow.
Once you’ve selected the workflow, starting variables configured in Maestro will appear automatically, in order to pass any required starting variables directly from your Power Automate flow.
For the workflow to be visible in Power Automate, set its Start method in Maestro as:
From an API call, and
Mark it as an Automated process
This ensures the workflow appears in the dropdown within Power Automate.
Let’s walk through how a financial institution might automate loan application processing using Power Automate and Docusign Maestro.
Power Automate:
Maestro:
Form submission: An applicant submits a loan application through a website (Power Pages) or an app (Power Apps). Power Automate listens for this submission.
Start Maestro workflow: Power Automate triggers the Start Docusign Maestro workflow action and passes the application details as input variables.
Web form data collection: Maestro collects additional applicant data via prefilled web forms; no toggling between systems or manual data entry.
Identity verification: Maestro sends a secure link to the applicant to complete identity verification before signing.
Agreement generation and eSignature: A personalized agreement is generated and embedded signing is initiated, letting users sign within the same interface instantly.
Post-signing automation: Maestro can automatically store signed agreements in SharePoint and sync data with systems such as Dynamics 365 using extension apps. The loan officer can be automatically notified to initiate next steps.
This process drastically reduces manual handoffs, improves security, ensures data consistency, and significantly enhances the experience of both customers as well as customer-facing teams.

By combining the automation power of Microsoft Power Automate with the agreement-centric workflows of Docusign Maestro, organizations don’t have to choose between flexibility and control: they get both. This integration bridges the gap between general-purpose automation and agreement-specific workflows, making it easier to build secure, efficient, and scalable processes across teams and systems.
No matter your industry or use case, this integration consolidates critical steps—from verifying identity to collecting data, capturing signatures, and storing agreements—all into one cohesive and automated process.
